Terms of Service
Last updated: July 21, 2026.
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of Skalyn. By creating an account, accepting an invitation, or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Effective as of July 21, 2026 (version 2.1).
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By accessing or using Skalyn, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You represent that you are at least 18 years old and legally capable. If you use Skalyn on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to represent it and bind it to these Terms.
2. Description of the service
Skalyn is an online tool for organizing volunteer schedules, allowing you to register volunteers and activities, create and publish shifts, send invitations, record confirmations and attendance, track participation, receive notifications and operational emails, and mirror the schedule to Google Calendar. Everything works in the browser, with no app to install.
"Skalyn" is the commercial and product name of the service. Skalyn is a service operated by PUBNIC DESENVOLVIMENTO DE SISTEMAS E MARKETING DIGITAL LTDA, a Brazilian company registered under CNPJ No. 35.191.622/0001-29, with its registered office at Avenida Paulista, 777, 15th Floor, Suite 15, Room 2009, Bela Vista, São Paulo, SP, 01311-914, Brazil, which provides the service under these Terms.
Skalyn is not a full CRM, a volunteering marketplace, a generic calendar, a courses or fundraising platform, a payroll or employment system, a guaranteed messaging channel, or a WhatsApp integration.
3. Account and credentials
To use Skalyn you must create an account or accept an invitation. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out under your account. You agree to provide truthful information, keep it up to date, and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use or suspected compromise. Account recovery is done by email.
Each person must have their own account; sharing credentials is not allowed. Administrator users are responsible for managing their team's access and removing people who should no longer have access.
4. Organization responsibilities
The organization and its coordinators manage operations and are responsible for:
- Having the authority and a legal basis to register, invite, manage, and communicate with their volunteers.
- Keeping data accurate and up to date and correctly configuring roles and access permissions.
- Sending only lawful communications and avoiding the entry of unnecessary sensitive data.
- Complying with the LGPD and other applicable laws, including regarding data about minors, obtaining parental or guardian consent where required.
- Configuring and disconnecting the Google Calendar integration as needed.
- Responding to their volunteers' requests regarding the data the organization controls.
5. Roles and data protection
With respect to users' account data, PUBNIC acts as controller. With respect to volunteer data entered by an organization, PUBNIC acts as processor, handling it according to the organization's instructions and the Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable use
When using Skalyn, you agree not to:
- Violate laws, third-party rights, or these Terms.
- Access areas, accounts, data, or organizations without authorization, including attempts to access another organization's data.
- Share credentials or allow unauthorized use of your account.
- Introduce malware, perform injection attacks, or exploit vulnerabilities.
- Perform automated data scraping, generate excessive traffic, carry out denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, or attempt to bypass usage limits.
- Use invitations to send spam or email bombing.
- Commit fraud, impersonate others, or enter unlawful content.
- Enter third-party data without a proper legal basis or authorization, or violate privacy and data-protection laws.
- Reverse engineer the service, except to the extent permitted by law, or interfere with third-party providers that support the service.
Good-faith security research is welcome and may be reported responsibly to privacy@skalyn.io.
7. Plans, trials, billing, and subscriptions
Skalyn offers the Starter, Essential, and Pro plans, plus the Organization plan (custom). Each plan defines an active-volunteer capacity and a number of included team members. A team member is a person with management access to the organization (administrators, directors, and coordinators); only these members occupy the seats included in the plan. Volunteers do not occupy team-member seats and are never charged per head.
- Free trial: the service includes a 14-day trial period, with no credit card required.
- Currency: Brazilian organizations are billed in reais (BRL) and international organizations in US dollars (USD), according to the organization's region.
- Applicable prices and limits: those presented at checkout or on the pricing page in force at the time of purchase or renewal.
- Intervals: billing may be monthly or annual; on annual subscriptions the period is charged annually, in a single payment, even where the interface presents an equivalent monthly amount for comparison purposes only.
- Additional team members: you may contract team members beyond the number included in your plan, subject to an additional recurring charge per member. While no contracted seats are available, adding new team members is blocked.
- Billing of additional members: follows the same billing interval as the organization's subscription — monthly on monthly subscriptions and annual on annual subscriptions.
- Organization plan: limits, prices, and other terms are negotiated case by case and set out in a specific proposal.
- Automatic renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each cycle until you cancel.
- Plan changes: upgrades, downgrades, and subscription adjustments are made through the Customer Portal (Stripe).
- Payment failure: may lead to suspension of paid access while payment is pending.
- Cancellation: you may cancel at any time through the Customer Portal; paid access continues until the end of the period already paid, and there is no renewal afterward.
- Refunds: amounts already paid are not refunded for partial periods, except for the 7-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts under art. 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code where applicable, and other cases required by law.
- NGO discount: may be granted upon request and review; it is not applied automatically at checkout.
- Taxes: prices may be subject to taxes under applicable law.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card data. We may change prices and plans with reasonable prior notice; changes do not affect the period already paid.
8. Third-party services and integrations
Skalyn uses and offers integrations with third-party services, such as Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in and Google Calendar), email providers, cloud hosting, and monitoring tools. By enabling optional integrations, you will also be subject to the respective provider's terms and policies.
We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their unavailability or failures; this, however, does not exclude liabilities that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Communications
When using Skalyn, you may receive operational communications, such as invitations, confirmation requests and reminders, schedule notices, billing notices, security notices, and service notices. Invitations and essential communications are inherent to the operation of the service.
You can adjust event-email preferences in your account settings. We do not send marketing communications without an appropriate legal basis.
10. Organization data and content
Data entered by you or your organization remains yours or the organization's. You grant us a limited license to host and process this data for the sole purpose of operating the service. You can export a copy of your data and delete your account or organization directly in the app. Processing of personal data follows the Privacy Policy, and backup copies may be kept for a short period within the retention window.
11. Intellectual property
The software, brand, design, documentation, and other elements of Skalyn are owned by PUBNIC and protected by law. These Terms do not transfer to you any intellectual property rights in the service beyond the right of use provided herein. Suggestions and feedback you send us may be used to improve the service, with no obligation of compensation.
12. Availability, maintenance, and changes to the service
We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available and secure. We may perform maintenance, updates, and feature changes, and any features in a testing (beta) stage may be changed or discontinued. The service is provided "as is", without warranties of uninterrupted availability or freedom from errors, unless a separate service-level agreement (SLA) is in place.
13. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access in the event of a security risk, abuse, non-payment, a legal requirement, a material breach of these Terms, harm to other customers, excessive use, or fraud.
Once access ends, data will be handled according to the Privacy Policy — as a rule, kept in a reversible state for 30 days and then deleted. You can export your data before termination. Amounts due up to the termination date remain payable.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PUBNIC is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or data loss arising from the use or inability to use the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liabilities that cannot be excluded by law, including those under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code where applicable and those arising from willful misconduct or gross negligence.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold PUBNIC harmless from third-party losses and claims arising from: entering data without a legal basis, unauthorized processing, misuse of the service, or violation of third-party rights or these Terms, to the extent attributable to your conduct.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Brazilian law. The courts of the Judicial District of São Paulo/SP are elected to resolve any disputes, except for mandatory jurisdiction rules of public order, including the consumer's right to sue in the courts of their own domicile under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code.
17. Changes to the Terms and contact
We may change these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email. Continued use after the changes take effect implies acceptance of the new Terms.
Legal questions and requests about these Terms may be sent to contact@skalyn.io. Privacy and personal data protection matters should be directed to our privacy channel, privacy@skalyn.io.
